Season 4 of Family Ties was the Year of Alex and Ellen, and if you were a child of the '80s like me, you still know all the words to "At This Moment" by Billy Vera and the Beaters because you heard it on Family Ties in the 2-parter where Alex and Ellen met and fell in love. (The song has just GOT to be in the episodes! It's a vital part of the story!) Season 4 was also the year Mallory brought Nick home to meet her family for the first time, and the reactions of the Keatons to Nick were comedy gold. And all of the Keatons, plus Skippy, being kept awake by Alex's insomnia (and a faulty burglar alarm), with Elyse finally providing a cure for her firstborn's sleeplessness (one of my favorite ever scenes between Meredith Baxter and Michael J. Fox), is one of the best episodes of all time. This season is a must-have for every true Family Ties fan's collection!

(More customer reviews)Gilligan's Island The Complete First Season is a must have for fans of the 1960's comedy. Everything you could want is here. The 3-disc set includes all 36 episodes from the first season presented in standard black and white. The episodes look great in black and white rather than that awful color that was inserted into them while on TBS. The DVD also includes the lost pilot episode with three different cast members alongside Gilligan, the Skipper, and the Howells. Also on the DVD are tropical tidbits about certain episodes, profiles on how the cast was selected, and a tropical island survival guide.
The excellent cast really made this show what it was. Bob Denver as Gilligan, Alan Hale JR as the Skipper, Jim Backus as Thurston Howell III, Natalie Schaefer as Lovie Howell, Tina Louise as Ginger, Russell Johnson as the Professor, and Dawn Wells as Mary Ann made up one of the best ensemble casts in television history. Fans of this much loved show should run out and buy Gilligan's Island The Complete First Season. You will not be disappointed!

EPISODE SYNOPSES Pilot: Ginger, Maryann and the Professor are different people. Mary-Ann's name is Bunny and her character is more like the current Ginger. Ginger is more like Mary-Ann but still called Ginger. TheProfessor is very much a ladies man. Since the episode never aired,the show was drastically altered, characters were replaced and sowas the now, unforgettable theme song. Episode 1: "Two on a Raft" - The castaways find themselves marooned on the island. Gilliganand the Skipper set sail on a home-made raft in an attempt to findhelp. After sailing for days and battling obstacles such as sharksand Gilligan's unending hunger, they land back on Gilligan's islandwithout realizing it.Episode 2: "Home Sweet Hut" - A hurricane is coming, so theCastaways must quickly build one large community hut in which toweather the storm. However, they soon get on each-others nerves, sothey later decide to branch out and build individual huts.Episode 3: "Voodoo Something to Me" - The Skipper fears that theisland is full of 'voodoo' when he thinks that Gilligan has beenturned into a monkey. Episode 4: "Goodnight Sweet Skipper" - The castaways hear on theradio that a plane is going to be flying over their island, but theywill be unable to contact them because their transmitter is broken.Episode 5: "Wrongway Feldman" - When Gilligan finds an old airplanehidden in the jungle, the Castaways discover a long-forgottenaviator living on the island. Episode 6: "President Gilligan" - The castaways decide that theyneed someone to be the leader on the island, and so they holdelections.Episode 7: "The Sound of Quacking" - The Castaways are faced withrunning out of food, when a blight threatens to destroy many oftheir plants. When Gilligan finds a duck in the lagoon, a difficultdecision must be made.Episode 8: "Goodbye Island" - Gilligan discovers a special tree sapthat can be used to make a good tasting pancake syrup. Then theprofessor discovers that the same tree sap also makes a super glue,that may allow the castaways to repair the Minnow.Episode 9: "The Big Gold Strike" - Mr. Howell discovers a gold mineon the island. He then hires Gilligan to work in the mine. When goldfever strikes the castaways and Mr. Howell is unwilling to share thegold, they begin to charge outlandish prices for the supplies andfood that Mr. Howell needs.Episode 10: "Waiting for Watubi" - While digging, the Skipperuncovers a carved statue of a Tiki God. He then believes a curse hasfallen on him for disturbing the resting-place of Watubi, and thathis days are numbered.Episode 11: "Angel on the Island" - Mr. Howell decides to put on aplay, staring Ginger, after she begins to suffer from home sickness.Trouble begins, however, when Mrs. Howell decides she wants to playthe starring role. Mel Blanc is the voice of the parrot.Episode 12: "Birds Gotta Fly, Fish Gotta Talk" - During Christmas,the Castaways get homesick and remember the first day they wereshipwrecked. When Santa Claus "appears" on the island, many suspecthe is the Skipper in costume. However, just as Santa departs whilewishing the Castaways a Merry Christmas, the Skipper appears fromthe other direction. Episode 13: "Three Million Dollars More or Less" - Mr. Howell loses$3 million to Gilligan in a golfing contest. Mr. Howell then tricksGilligan into trading for a worthless oil well that he owns.Episode 14: "Water Water Everywhere" - Talk about a painful irony:though surrounded by water, the Castaways suddenly discover thattheir supply of fresh drinking water is running out.Episode 15: "So Sorry, My Island Now" - The Castaways are capturedby a Japanese sailor who thinks that WWII never ended. When theother castaways are captured, it is up to Gilligan to save them.Episode 16: "Plant You Now, Dig You Later" - While working for Mr.Howell, Gilligan unearths a chest. The castaways think it mustcontain a pirate's treasure.Episode 17: "Little Island, Big Gun" - A mob leader and hishenchmen, fleeing from the police, land on the island.Episode 18: "X Marks the Spot" - In a test of a deadly new missile,called "Operation Powder Keg," the Air Force chooses an "uninhabitedisland" which just happens to be Gilligan's Island.Episode 19: "Gilligan Meets Jungle Boy" - Gilligan discovers ajungle boy living on the island. He shows them a hole in the groundthat causes objects to float, and the professor theorizes that it isexpelling either helium or hydrogen. Kurt Russell is the guest star. Episode 20: "St. Gilligan and the Dragon" - Angry because the menhaven't kept their promise to build them private houses, the womendecide to move to the other side of the island in protest.Episode 21: "Big Man on Little Stick" - Handsome surfer DukeWilliams rides a giant tsunami to the island. At first, thecastaways are excited as Duke thinks he will turn around and surfback to Hawaii (and send help). However, after seeing Mary Ann andGinger, he decides he may want to stay for a while.Episode 22: "Diamonds Are an Ape's Best Friend"- A gorilla isenchanted by Mrs. Howell's perfume and kidnaps her. After Gilliganaccidentally spills the perfume all over his shirt, the gorilladecides to release Mrs. Howell and exchange prisoners. Episode 23: "How to be a Hero"- After Gilligan is unable to saveMary Ann from drowning in the lagoon, the Skipper must jump in andrescue both of them. The Castaways then devise schemes to boostGilligan's ego, and help him feel like a hero. Episode 24: "The Return of Wrongway Feldman" - The castaways arerevisited by 'Wrongway' Feldman. Episode 25: "The Matchmaker" - Mrs. Howell decides to engineer aromance between Gilligan and Mary Ann. Episode 26: "Music Hath Charm" - Mrs. Howell decides to form asymphony orchestra, to make up for the lack of culture on theisland. Gilligan's drum beats, as they drift across the water, holdspecial meaning to angry natives on a nearby island. Episode 27: "New Neighbor Sam" - The Castaways overhear the voicesof gangsters discussing buried treasure and threatening their lives.The voices turn out to belong to a parrot, who then leads thecastaways to the "treasure." Episode 28: "They're Off and Running" - Mr. Howell wins all of theSkipper's possessions betting on turtle races. Even when he feelsbad and switches the turtles so that Skipper will finally win, hestill wins! Episode 29: "Three to Get Ready" - The Skipper insists a stone foundby Gilligan will grant the finder three wishes before sundown. Theprofessor, of course, insists it is just superstition.Episode 30: "Forget Me Not" -The Professor tries to cure theSkipper's amnesia by hypnotizing him and taking him through time.Episode 31: "Diogenes, Won't You Please Go Home" - The Castawaysdiscover that Gilligan has been keeping a secret diary. When theyread it, they all seem to disagree with how certain events unfoldedand tell their side of the story. Episode 32: "Physical Fatness" - Gilligan and the Skipper plan tojoin the Navy when they are rescued. However, when weighingthemselves, they discover that Gilligan must gain weight, while theSkipper must diet. Episode 33: "It's Magic" - Gilligan finds a raft, oh wait, no, theGreat Raftini's magic trunk. Ginger knows how to use the magicaltricks and the castaways plan to use the magic to scare away angrynatives if they ever got to their island again.Episode 34: "Goodbye Old Paint" - A famous painter who has renouncedcivilization, Dubov, visits the island (with a short-wave radio, ofcourse). The castaways are hopeful that Dubov will give them histransmitter, but soon discover he does not wish to go back tocivilization.Episode 35: "My Fair Gilligan" - After Gilligan saves Mrs. Howell'slife, Mr. Howell decides to make him his son. He immediately putsGilligan through basic training to be a millionaire's socialite son(dream sequence), changing the way he walks, talks and dresses.However, Gilligan and the rest of the castaways miss the "oldGilligan." Episode 36: "A Nose By Any Other Name" - A fall from a coconut treegives Gilligan an inflated nose and a deflated ego. When Gilligandecides he wants the Professor to perform plastic surgery on hisnose, the Professor pretends to perform the surgery, and instead,relies on the recuperation time behind the bandages to allow theswelling to go down. When the bandages are finally removed, Gilligandecides he is happy with his old nose!

(More customer reviews)"Gilligan's Island," while never a hit with the critics, is beloved today by millions of fans. I don't remember when the series was on during primetime, but I fondly recall coming home from school to catch it in the afternoons. This DVD set covers the final season of the short-lived series and it contains some of my favorite episodes. Gilligan thinking that he's a vampire, Gilligan being hunted by a big game hunter, MaryAnn thinking that she's Ginger, a witch doctor casting spells on the castaways, and many more memorable episodes. My all time favorite is included here - "The Producer" with Phil Silvers as the over-the-top movie producer Harold Hecuba.

#1 - Up at Bat - After being bitten by a bat, Gilligan is convinced that he is turning into a vampire.
#2 - Gilligan vs. Gilligan - Gilligan can't convince the others that there is a Russian spy on the island and he looks just like him!
#3 - Pass The Vegetables Please - Gilligan finds a crate of radioactive vegetable seeds that give the castaways superhuman powers.
#4 - The Producer - Phil Silvers guest stars as Harold Hecuba and the castaways try to impress him by staging their own version of "Hamlet."
#5 Voodoo - A witch doctor makes dolls in the likeness of the castaways and casts spells on them.
#6 Where There's A Will - Mr. Howell decides to revise his will and leave everything to his fellow castaways. When they throw him a party, he thinks that they are out to kill him.
#7 Man With A Net - John McGiver guest stars as Lord Beasley, a butterfly collector in pursuit of the elusive pussycat swallowtail.
#8 Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow - Gilligan and the Skipper mysteriously go bald and decide to live in a cave to avoid the stares of the others.
#9 - Ring Around Gilligan - Vito Scotti guest stars as mad scientist Dr. Boris Balinkoff who controls the castaways with a hypnotic ring.
#10 - Topsy-Turvy - Gilligan is having vision problems and there are headhunters on the island.
#11 - The Invasion - Gilligan finds an attache case filled with top secret files and has a dream that is Agent 014.
#12 - The Kidnapper - Don Rickles guest stars Norbert Wiley, a kidnapper who holds the women for ransom.
#13 - And Then There Were None - The castaways are vanishing one by one and Gilligan, thinking he is responsible, has a dream that he is Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde.
#14 - All About Eva - Tina Louise has a field day as the drab Eva Grubb, who gets a beauty make-over from the girls and ends up looking just like Ginger.
#15 - Gilligan Goes Gung Ho - Law and order is needed on the island so Skipper becomes the sheriff and Gilligan his deputy.
#16 - Take A Dare - Strother Martin guest stars as George Barkley, who is trying to win $10,000 by surviving on a deserted island. Only this island isn't deserted!
#17 - Court-Martial - The Skipper is distraut when he hears that he is at fault for the Minnow shipwreck.
#18 - The Hunter - Rory Calhoun plays big game hunter Jonathan Kinkaid, who wants to hunt humans.
#19 - Lovey's Secret Admirer - Mr. Howell is sending his wife anonymous love letters.
#20 - Our Vines Have Tender Grapes - Denny Miller guest stars as Tongo, the Ape Man, who is actually an actor vying for a movie role.
#21 - Gilligan's Personal Magnetism - Gilligan becomes invisible.
#22 - Splashdown - The Professor calculates that a space shuttle will soon be flying over the island. The castaways prepare to get their attention.
#23 - High Man on the Totem Pole - After seeing his likeness on a totem pole, Gilligan thinks that he is the descendent of headhunters.
#24 - The Second Ginger Grant - Mary Ann thinks that she is Ginger after hitting her head.
#25 - The Secret of Gilligan's Island - Gilligan and the Skipper find prehistoric tablets in a cave. Gilligan dreams that the castaways are living in prehistoric times.
#26 - Slave Girl - Gilligan saves the life of a native girl and now she wants to be his slave for life.
#27 - It's A Bird, It's A Plane - A jet pack floats into the lagoon - the Professor thinks that there is enough fuel in it to get one of them back to Hawaii.
#28 - The Pigeon - Sterling Holloway plays a prisoner who uses his homing pigeon to correspond with the castaways.
#29 - Bang! Bang! Bang! - A crate of molding plastic washes ashore and the castaways start using it but are unaware that it is actually an explosive.
#30 - Gilligan, the Goddess - Natives arrive on the island in search of a "white goddess" to feed to their volcano.

Amanda has a party at the building but makes Alison work late so she can be alone with Billy. Keith pays a homeless man to make filthy calls to Alison. Michael and Kimberly shack up.
A Long Night's Journey 9/15/1993
When Alison goes back to Keith's hotel room to take him to the airport he tells her that he has been stalking her and then tries to rape her! This ep was sorta unrealistic (in a foolish way.) Because Alison was attacked by Keith, reported the attack to the police, Keith was arrested and interrogated by the police and the DA decides not to file charges ~ this all happens in 1 evening!
Revenge 9/22/1993
Billy shows up at Keith's work to tell him to stay away from Alison. After being shot down by Alison over the phone Keith takes his own life. Sydney gets her kicks by cleaning Michael's dirty laundry.
Fire Power 9/29/1993
Amanda almost fires Alison when she enjoys just a little too much of some of the hair of the dog that bit her!

Jake realizes that he accidentally burned down his shop.

Furious, Jane throws turn-coat Sydney out after she learns that Sydney went to Michael's party. Amanda rents Sydney an apartment. Michael and Sydney get it on when Kimberly is out of town.

Palmer offers Jake a job. Sydney blackmails Michael into sex by threatening to expose him. Jane wants to take things slower with Robert.

Sydney takes a job at Shooters as a server. Kimberly catches Sydney in bed with Michael then runs to Jane for sympathy. Alison is jealous (yet again) when Steve starts to casually see Jo. By the way, I love it when Jane says to Alison, "my sister, that's really sick." Honey, she ain't seen nothing yet.

Michael gets back into Kimberly's good graces by having dinner with her and then giving her a fancy diamond (engagement) ring. On the way home from the restaurant Michael drives d runk and gets into a h orrible a ccident. The police suspect d runk d riving and in an effort to save Michel's b utt Matt agrees to change his blood level on his medical hospital records. Sydney meets Lauren Ethridge, a proprietor of a high-class h ooker ring.
Cold Turkey 11/24/1993
Amanda sends Alison out of town on business during Thanksgiving. The FBI orders that Jake help out in their on-going investigation against Palmer. When Jane refuses to spend Thanksgiving with Syd she goes over to Lauren's home to spend the holiday with her new "family." Marion brings her daughter home to Cleveland.
Duet for One 12/1/1993
Matt gives Michael the bad news; that Kimberly has died! Michael arrogantly says, "I should sue that b itch for taking her out of here;" obviously referring to Marion Shaw! He's then transferred to a rehab center but is able to guilt Jane into letting him come stay with her. Furious with Alison (for spending Thanksgiving out of town with Steve), Billy goes to stay with Jake. Meanwhile, Syd goes to work for Lauren. One of her clients enjoys kinky sex games which isn't something Sydney is into so she skips out. Suffice it to say, Lauren is FURIOUS and threatening when she says to Sydney, "don't you ever put my name or my livelihood behind the 8-ball!"
Strange Bedfellows 12/15/1993
Alison goes to Steve's ranch but (like Kirstie Alley did) realizes that he isn't the man for her. When Michael falls off the sofa (at Jane's apartment) Syd hears his agonizing cries and offers to help him, only after he agrees to apologize for the way he treated her. On the rebound from Alison and on the rebound from Jake, both Amanda and Billy spend the night together.
Under the Mistletoe 12/22/1993
Billy is able to sneak out of Amanda's apartment without Alison seeing him (although he is half nude.) I really like how they played the Christmas Music as Billy was scurrying through the courtyard holding his pants; it really added a touch of class & Christmas cheer! Matt puts together a Christmas party for his stepdaughter, Nikki. In the spirit of Christmas, Alison and Billy get back together. Sydney makes a tearful confession to a priest, "I'm a p rostitute."
Reunion Blues 1/5/1994
Amanda makes threats to Billy when she finds out that he's back with Allison. When Sydney is busted for hooking Michael bails her out. He then blackmails Syd into helping him chase away Robert (from Jane's be d!)
Michael's Game 1/12/1994
Alison goes over Amanda's head at D&D and complains to Bruce about her. Bruce doesn't like Amanda (any more than Alison does) so he rightfully doesn't take Amanda's side. (It's absolutely surreal to see Amanda be put on her place, and by a man, no less!!) Sydney gets one of her little h ooker-friends to sleep with (a very h orny) Robert during a business trip. The s ex is videotaped and an anonymous package is sent to Jane who subsequently throws Robert out in the middle of the night (when she finally gets around to watching the video.) With enjoyment in his eyes (and ma lice in his heart,) Michael watches the fight from upstairs out Syd's window!
Arousing Suspicions 1/26/1994
After Michael rejects her (once again) Sydney tells Jane about Michael's involvement in scheming to break her and Robert up. Michael tries to explain to Jane but she throws him out anyway as he says, "like I drove her kicking and screaming into the w horehouse." Jane tells him that Syd has made her mistakes but she would rather have her sister in her life than his sorry self!! I loooooove it!!
The Young Men and the Sea 2/2/1994
Amanda and Jake invest in Reed's business. (Who knows why, because about the only thing that Reed looks qualified to do is strip.) Jane files a restraining order against Michael when he starts harassing her. When Michael shows up at her apartment Sydney comes running down to hide him so he won't get arrested.
Parting Glances 2/9/1994
Jake and Amanda bail on Reed's business venture. Sydney hears Michael talking in his sleep and puts two and two together; finding out that Michael was drunk on the night of the accident. Alison goes to NY to see Billy.
Swept Away 2/16/1994
After being kidnapped and held captive and beaten, Jo harpoons Reed! Somehow he's able to get back onto the boat when Jo shoots to kill. Sydney blackmails Michael into letting her move in with him.
With This Ball and Chain 2/23/1994
Amanda gets an excellent attorney to represent Jo (on the murder charges) who's able to get the charges dropped. At Billy and Alison's engagement party Jake punches Billy because of his little Christmastime fling with Amanda. Despite his protests, Sydney thinks that she and Michael are made for one another.
Otherwise Engaged 3/2/1994
Sydney and Jane get into a horrible catfight that spills over into the swimming pool when Jane sees Sydney wearing her wedding dress. Inside her apartment Jane says to Syd, "OMG, take it off now and get the hell out." Syd says, "fine I'm leaving," as she runs out with the dress still on! The girls' fight spills over into the pool as Jane says to Sydney, "you are trash Sydney, with the rap sheet to prove it." Later in the ep, Mrs. Andrews (Gail Strickland) comes to the beach house to try to get Sydney to come back to Earth. Syd says to her mom, "why don't you take your broom and fly back to Chicago!" And, she goes ahead with the wedding and the only guest is Matt (who little Syd is also blackmailing.) Michael takes Sydney on a honeymoon and implies to Matt that he is going to be a widower in the near future!
