MTV Jackass, Vol. 1 Review

MTV Jackass, Vol. 1

Where is the "SELF-DEFENSE PRODUCTS DEMONSTRATION"?
That's the one in which Johnny Knoxville subjects himself to pepper spray, an electrified cattle prod and taser darts. That's the first "Jackass" sketch I saw and it's hilarious, still one of my favorites.
When Vol. 2-3 came out, I was hoping it would be on one of those.
It wasn't.
So, I thought, surely it'll be on Vol. 1.
It's not.
Still, there are over 100 chapters here and some really good sketches:
"Poo Cocktail," "Johnny Coxville," "BMX Joust," "Sumo Wrestling," "Daddy and Baby (1-3)," "The Goldfish," "50 Egg Challenge," "Egg Nog Challenge," "Landskiing" (with Bam Margera doing one of the best falls of the series); "Beekini," "Bam Beating Phil for a Day," "Prostitute Boat Race," "Skunk," "Steve-O Shot Glass" and the extremely funny "Oklahoma," in which Preston gets whipped by dominatrices.
This is a good set but the one scene I bought it to have isn't on here. Alas.

Wildboyz - Complete Seasons 3 & 4 Unrated (2006) Review

Wildboyz - Complete Seasons 3 and 4 Unrated (2006)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
With the recent death of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, Wildboyz, with its irreverent, childish humour, just doesn't seem as funny anymore. Not to mention the show's concept - Jackass meets Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom - seems, well, played out. Perhaps sensing this, the third and fourth seasons spend as much time examining a country's culture as much as its animals.
The boys visit Kenya with fellow Jackass alumni Wee-Man along for the ride. They try their hand at skateboarding the Savannahs and inevitably perform stunts that land them in big piles of, you guessed it, elephant poop. Do you sense a reoccurring theme, here? What makes the show work is that each episode really attempts to open a window (albeit a grotesque one) on a culture radically different from our own. So, we get to see Chris and Steve-O participate in all kinds of traditional rituals practiced by primitive tribes. It doesn't hurt that many of the rituals the two of them are subjected to fit in with the Jackass-style of gross-out humour. Are they trying to say that the Jackass tradition is as old as human culture itself? Probably not - that would be way too sophisticated for this show.
The personalities of Steve-O and, to a larger degree, Chris also account for a large part of the show's appeal. Although, in season three, Steve-O becomes more of a spoil-sport, exhibiting almost diva-like behaviour so that he comes across, at times, like a big whiner. He's okay so long as the joke is not at his expense. Chris, in comparison, is much more easy-going and looks like he's always having fun, like a big kid getting to play with all kinds of wild animals. He seems willing to try anything and isn't a complainer like his partner. Their pal Manny Puig appears frequently, displaying a lot of guts... or stupidity as in one episode he sneaks up on a lion and grabs its tail!
The DVD advertises itself as "Unrated" and while the language is indeed not bleeped, nudity is still censored.
The first disc features commentaries for all the episodes in season three by Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Manny Puig, Johnny Knoxville, Wee-Man, Loomis Fall and co-creators/producers Jeff Tremaine and Dimitry Elyashkevich. These typically rowdy tracks feature everyone fighting to get a word in edge-wise while also making fun of Steve-O at every opportunity.
The second disc features commentaries by the same participants for all the episodes in season four. Knoxville sits in on the Russia episodes helping deliver one of the more spirited tracks as all the "creative" camerawork during the ballet sequence is pointed out. They also make fun of Chris' "cat-like reflexes" during the hockey sequence.
The third disc features "Outtakes," footage of Chris and Steve-O goofing around between "takes." Also included is funny footage of animals being their usual unpredictable selves.
"Bonus Segments" feature footage that didn't make the cut, including Chris and Steve-O getting wasted with some drunk Russians on very potent alcohol that is quite funny to watch.
"Wildboyz: Over and Out" is a behind-the-scenes featurette. Chris, Steve-O and Knoxville all say that Russia was their favourite country to visit. Everyone tells anecdotes about what they feel are the most memorable moments that, surprisingly, doesn't repeat much of what is said on the commentaries.
"Top 10 Wildboyz Moments" features Steve-O, Chris, Manny, Knoxville and Wee-Man pick their favourite moments from the past two seasons.
"Photo Gallery" includes pictures from the last two seasons.
Finally, there is "Nintendo DS Ad - Behind the Scenes" which takes a look at Steve-O and Chris shooting an ad for Nintendo's latest gaming system. We see them messing around before hand, killing time until the actual ad is shot.

For better or worse, MTV funded a bumbling case of idiots to play with poo and dress in a variety of men's undergarments. Never before has arrested development looked so much fun as the cast of Jackass make it. From stapling Jackass on their rear-end to mounting magazine stands in gorilla costumes, Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, and the rest of the gang show us what it takes be a Jackass!

MTV Jackass (Volumes 2 & 3) (2001) Review

MTV Jackass (Volumes 2 and 3) (2001)

THESE DVD'S ARE CENSORED!!!(thats why i gave them 4 stars)Now i love the show and the movie was awesome, so when i found out these dvd's were coming out, i pre-ordered them first chance i got...later i saw the covers for them, which have a parental advisory on them, so naturally i thought, "FINALLY some uncut jackass!"(excluding the movie). Well now i find out that they are still bleeped! theres nothing i can do now, they're bought and paid for, and im still glad i have them but it should have been stated somewhere that they would still be censored. Also, there is NO added or unaired footage. Everything on here was on tv. If you don't mind the beeps, then they are still awesome! and a final comment for the 2 who say otherwise, volume one will NOT be released next year or anytime for that matter, INSTEAD there are supposed to be full UNCENSORED seasons coming to dvd once the legal situation is solved, key word there "SUPPOSED".

Due to some random haggard circumstances, Volume 1 of the Jackass TV series isn't coming out anytime soon. But in the meantime here's Volume 2 & 3. Volume two of the Jackass series contains a random, haggard selection of segments and bits that aired on our crappy little television show. Remarkable moments in this half-ass collection include Chris Pontius masquerading as an American werewolf and creating panic in the streets of London, Johnny Knoxville sticking his arm right up a cow's butt, Bam Margera and Brandon Dicamillo taking the hockey gloves off and brawling in the middle of a café, Ehren McGhehey falling flat on his pink face while skateboarding blindfolded, and a bunch of other absurd stunts, pranks and queer misbehavior from our bumbling cat and crew of idiots. Volume three of the Jackass series contains a random, haggard selection of segments and bits that aired on our crappy little television show. Memorable moments in this half-ass collection include the recitation of the Gettysburg Address by Johnny Knoxville while a beard of leeches is applied to his ruggedly handsome face, Chris Pontius stripping down for the pleasure of five other dudes, Wee Man and Preston Lacy pulling a "poo switcheroo" with a porta-potty, Dave England digging through the trash and unearthing a tasty treat in a diaper, and a bunch of other absurd stunts, pranks and queer misbehavior from our bumbling cat and crew of idiots.

Wildboyz - The Complete First Season Review

Wildboyz - The Complete First Season
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Tired of the over-earnestness of The Crocodile Hunter and Jeff Corwin? Those crazy Wildboyz are back for a second season filled with more snake bites and animal poop jokes than you can shake a stick at. This season is a mix of countries they visited last time around with some new places too. They haven't messed around with the formula at all (if ain't broke, why fix it, right?) as Chris Pontius and Steve-O mix it up with various dangerous animals and insects while also performing all kinds of gross out stunts that usually involve both of them puking their guts out at some point.
The Florida episode is, without a doubt, the most entertaining one as the boys hook up with animal expert Manny Puig, venomous snake expert David Weathers and "movie star" Johnny Knoxville who is his typical smart-ass self. The highlight of this episode occurs when Knoxville pulls a practical joke on Steve-O, fooling him into believing that he's been mortally wounded by a lethal snake. As Knoxville is being "rushed" to the hospital, he tells Steve-O that it was all a joke.
What makes the Wildboyz work so well is that they don't take themselves too seriously. The relationship between the whiney Steve-O and the happy-go-lucky Chris works well and their dynamic is only improved when they include someone like Manny or Knoxville into the mix. This season certainly won't convert fans who didn't like the first one but those who love watching these goofy guys take the piss out of animal shows like The Crocodile Hunter will find a lot to enjoy with these episodes.
Disc one features an audio commentary on every episode by Chris, Steve-O and co-creators/producers Jeff Tremaine and Dimitry Elyashkevich. Wee-Man joins them on his episode (Kenya) and Knoxville joins them on his two (Florida and Indonesia) - not surprisingly, these are the best commentaries of the bunch. They are often chaotic affairs as everyone proceeds to make fun of Steve-O and crack jokes at what we are watching.
Disc two starts off with deleted footage from each episode that totals 40 minutes! It's really a shame some of this footage was cut, for example, in Australia Chris and Steve-O have salt water crocodiles swim between their legs and then they dive in their tank!
There is also a 20-minute collection of outtakes and bloopers that include, most interestingly, fall-out from certain segments, like just how painful the ant glove incident was for Chris and Steve-O.
"Wildboyz Unclothed," is a behind-the-scenes look at the Costa Rica episode that shows how certain segments, like Steve-O's bungee jump, came together.
"Wildboyz Encyclopedia" is the "educational" extra that takes a look at a particular animal from one of the episodes and allows you to view a clip from said segment showing the animal in action.
There is also a trivia game which tests your knowledge of Season 2 and rewards all the right answers with a previously unseen clip that maybe should have been left unseen.
"Bite List" gives a run down of how many animal bites Chris and Steve-O have received over the season, where on their body and in which country.
Finally, there is a photo gallery of most of the episodes with captions for each picture which is a nice idea.
