Murder, She Wrote - The Complete Sixth Season (1984) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I adore Murder She Wrote. Unfortunately, in the 6th season there are so many episodes that do not have Jessica involved. She begins each episode she's not in by talking to the audience and sharing a story of a friend but the plot does not include her at all. I'm not sure why (was she ill? did she need a longer break? did she have other commitments?) but without her solving the crime, I'm not interested. If you don't mind episodes without her then you'll enjoy this season. I would return it if I didn't take so long to watch it.

Between the Lions Season 1 Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I bought this set after purchasing the other DVD sets (The Chap with Caps and more and Hopping Hen and more). I cannot recommend this series enough.It has helped my son to read and he is obsessed with certain episodes such as, Be Pop. It is fun, educational and will not bore you, the adult when watching it. If you are a fan of the Muppets then this show will be good.
This series is one of the few childrens shows that I enjoy watching with the kids instead of silently suffering through and like the Muppets tries to serve both the child and adult audiences. The Ingmar Bergman tribute, Sausage Nose, did not do too much for my kids however, I cracked up.
The later seasons of Between the Lions are kind of inferior to the Season 1 and have a lot more "borrowing" from the earlier episodes. I read it was due to budget constraints and some controversy with the sponsors but who knows? I know that there are a lot of episodes that are on VHS but not available on DVD.
In any case, if you like the show get this whole set. But if you have never seen the show and are unsure whether it is something your kids would love then get one of the other 2 smaller sets.Things to Know:
* the other 2 DVD have many of the same episodes found in Season 1
* the Seaseon 1 packaging is kind of "down scale" in comparison of the first 2 sets;
* Many episodes use other parts of other episodes such as Gawain's Word
* The first 2 sets are more a "best of" of Season 1
* Season 1 is 5 DVDs with 6 episodes eachEpisodes in Season 1 (* shows that it can be found in the earlier 2 sets)
DVD
- the ram in the pepper patch
- A peck of peppers
- Sausage nose
- Red hat, green hat
- The lucky duck
- The Old Man
- A King and His Hawk
- The Roar that Makes Them Run
* Piggyback, Piggyback
* The Fox and the Crow
* Giants and Cubs
* Be Bop
* Touching the Moon
* The Boy Who Cried Wolf
* Fuzzy Wuzzy, Wuzzy
- Lionel's Antlers
* To the Ship! To the Ship!
* The Chap with Caps
* Pandora's Box
* Lionel's Great Escape Trick
* There's a Fly in My Soup
* Popcorn Popper
- Something Fishy
* Hug, hug, hug
* Pecos Bill Cleans Up the West
- The Lost Rock
- Little Big Mouse
* Farmer Ken's Puzzle
* Shooting Stars
* Hopping Hen
Highly recommended and I am glad that I got them. I gave away the other 2 earlier sets as gifts and that child loves them too. I hope that they release the other episodes even though the other seasons aren't quite as good, but not quite as good is still better than other shows.

Jericho - The First Season Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)When I first saw the previews for Jericho, I thought "Another show trying to capitalize on Lost." Granted, I enjoy watching Lost and other serial dramas, but I wasn't sure if I would enjoy a post-nuclear drama. But I recorded it, and decided to give the show a try.
After watching the pilot, I wouldn't say I was hooked, but I was definitely engaged and was willing to see where the show went. It didn't take much longer before I was looking forward to watching Jericho each week. I became hooked on the characters, learning more about their backstories, and their present motivations. Who was Robert Hawkins, and how was he involved in the attacks? Why did Jake leave Jericho and where has he been all these years? Not to mention, who dropped the bomb and what was left of the nation?
Unfortunately, the Nielson ratings went their to support the show. And so CBS canceled the show. And then CBS was shocked to discover the massive protest that erupted. Fans sent over 20 tons of nuts to CBS in protest. Fans had also raised over $20,000 in charity to be sent to Greensburg, KS, a town wiped out by tornadoes.
Many viewers, like myself, watched through alternative means. We watched it later on our DVRs or online. And we weren't counted. When CBS actually looked that those numbers, CBS discovered that they had a solid show and renewed it. So, during the next season, CBS will air 7 new episodes to wrap up the show and if it does well, then more episodes will come.
For new viewers, I highly recommend this show. Watch it, see why so many fans fought so hard to bring it back. Don't be afraid to get hooked. Answers are given :)

JERICHO is a drama about what happens when a nuclear mushroom cloud suddenly appears on the horizon, plunging the residents of a small, peaceful Kansas town into chaos, leaving them completely isolated and wondering if they're the only Americans left alive. But in this time of crisis, as sensible people become paranoid, personal agendas take over and well-kept secrets threaten to be revealed, some people will find an inner strength they never knew they had and the most unlikely heroes will emerge.
